If it has to do with death and dying, Barbara Karnes is talking about it. Her iconic booklet, GONE FROM MY SIGHT: The Dying Experience (aka: "the little blue hospice book") has sold over 30 million copies and is the most beloved and widely used resource of its kind. Barbara's articles have been featured in The NY Times, USA Today, The Huffington Post, Thrive Global, & The Washington Post, among others.
Barbara began as an early hospice pioneer during the AIDS crisis. Her career spans four decades including many years spent at the bedside caring for patients and their families as a nurse. Barbara has worked through the hospice ranks as a patient care manager, clinical director, nurse, and volunteer, and has also served as the executive director of both hospice and home-health agencies. She is a dedicated end of life educator who was awarded the NHPCO Innovator award for her leadership in end of life care. She has authored countless resource materials, booklets and movies and writes a popular blog entitled, "Something to Think About."
