Help Texts Monthly Dose of Good News: June 2025

Hi friends. Thanks for supporting the work we do at Help Texts. This month our subscribers shared how much they count on the powerfully simple, human, and clinically sound guidance we text them each week. Here are just a few of the things they shared with us in June:

  • These texts have offered me comfort and support during some of my most vulnerable moments. The explanations as to why I might be feeling a certain way made a lot of sense to me. I know I won't ever forget my husband, we were together for a very long time. I know he would be pleased that your texts brought me some comfort during some very unhappy times. Thank you.”
  • “I'll miss your texts. Thank you, it's been a comfort to read and receive your messages; they have helped to soften the isolation and loneliness of grief.”
  • "They've helped me when I've needed it the most. When I'm having a bad day and then a text randomly comes though, it has really helped me."
  • "The big thing for me has been that they have continued to arrive. Mum died six months ago and friends and colleagues have stopped asking how I am. The texts have made me feel less alone and more comfortable with still struggling with things."

Coming this summer: monthly subscriptions!

You asked, and we listened. I'm pleased to share that - this summer - Help Texts will launch monthly subscriptions. Stay tuned for $9.99 monthly subscriptions that will make our support more affordable and flexible than ever. Subscribers will be able to pause or cancel anytime, making it easier to get help when it's needed most.

What grief-bots can teach us about being there for each other

Why are more people turning to AI for grief support? According to our Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Melissa Lunardini, it is not because machines are better. It is because too many grieving people are not getting what they need from the humans around them. Melissa's article, titled What AI and Grief-bots Can Teach Us About Supporting Grieving People, was featured as the lead story on The Healthcare Blog in June. She reminds us that while AI can offer presence, humans can offer connection. We can sense what someone is not saying. We can remember anniversaries. We can sit quietly, make dinner, and say the name of the person who died. Grief-bots are not replacing human care. They are holding up a mirror to show us what grieving people need, and what is still possible when we choose to show up.

Welcome to our new partners

We are honored to welcome two incredible organizations to the Help Texts community: Canuck Place Children's Hospice and Heterotaxy Connection.

Canuck Place provides pediatric palliative care and grief support to children and families across British Columbia, offering compassionate care during some of life’s most difficult moments. Heterotaxy Connection is a family-led nonprofit that supports those affected by Heterotaxy Syndrome, creating a strong network of education, advocacy, and emotional support.

Both organizations are deeply committed to the well-being of the families they serve. We are proud to partner with them in extending personalized, clinically-sound text support to grieving parents, caregivers, and loved ones.

Help Texts is now supporting skilled nursing facilities

Help Texts now partners with skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to support families, caregivers, and staff. When a loved one enters long-term care, families often face overwhelming emotions and questions. Our text-based support helps facilities strengthen family communication, ease caregiver stress, and improve overall satisfaction. It is a simple, effective way to extend compassionate care beyond the bedside and into the lives of those who matter most.

Grief is not a niche. New article published in June.

If you have a few minutes to spare, please take a look at my new article, published in June, titled: Grief is Not a Niche - It Happens to us All. In it I make the case for why grief support should be treated as a public health priority. I believe there's a real opportunity for healthcare systems, policymakers, and government agencies to provide immediate, meaningful support after loss, and I am proud of the work Help Texts has been doing since 2018 to make that possible.

Thank you for being part of our community.

With gratitude,

Emma Payne, CEO
