Jared Rubenstein, MD
Palliative Care Physician
Jared is the Medical Director at Canuck Place Children's Hospice, as well as the Head & Medical Director, Division of Palliative Medicine, at BC Children's Hospital. He's also a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia. Previously Jared was with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, where he was a transformative leader in pediatric palliative care.
Beyond clinical care, Jared is passionate about improving communication around challenging topics. He creates educational videos and leverages social media to reach healthcare workers and the public on subjects including palliative care, mental health, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. His videos are used internationally for education and advocacy. He also co-founded Discrimination 911, a workshop that trains hospital staff to respond effectively when they witness discrimination in healthcare settings—a program he has taught locally, nationally, and internationally.
Dr. Rubenstein earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Brown's Hasbro Children's Hospital and fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine and Akron Children's Hospital.
